Set amid the old world ambience of Petersham's wide tree-lined streets and
gracious 19th century architecture, eversleigh is a unique oasis in the
inner west: a haven of verdant tranquility and luxurious modern amenities
within the magnificent gardens of the historic eversleigh estate. The site
was originally acquired in 1876 by George Maiden, Sydney Manager of the
major pastoralist and wool brokerage firm Goldsborough Mort and Company
Ltd. He erected an elegant villa on the land and named it everleigh, later
changing the name to eversleigh.
Restate marks the landmark restoration
of this gracious estate to its former glory. Incorporating two immaculately
restored historic buildings, contemporary quality apartments with expansive
district views and a modern interpretation of the estate’s original century-old
gardens. The low-rise apartment buildings have been a design collaboration
between the firms TGP Architects & Planners Pty Ltd and Spence Pearson
Architects in a classical fusion that is in harmony with the surrounding
heritage streetscape while providing all the comforts suitable for today's
lifestyle.
